Angelique Kidjo Makes Africa Proud With Her Grammy Win And We’re Here For It All

By  |

Angelique Kidjo was awarded Best World Music Album award at the 62nd Grammy Awards held on the night of  Sunday 27th January 2020. The Benin singer took the world by storm with her album “Celia”, and she definitely deserved this award.
Recalling that Burna Boy was also nominated for the award, Kidjo dedicated her award to him in her acceptance speech. This is such an incredible ‘sportsperson’ moment, as she doesn’t get too personal with the award.
Well, this didn’t seem much of a competition because the two artistes admire one another, and Burna Boy has always celebrated being her fan. They’ve both also collaborated in the track “Different”, featuring Damian Marley.

From her “Afirika” performance below, you’ll know that Angelique Kidjo spiced up the Grammy’s stage. We love how much she encouraged the audience to get up and dance! Usually, the Grammys guest would just sit, watch, clap, cheer, but Mama changed the narrative. Cheers to Africa!
